Steve Blunden is a member of the Dunghutti Nation.

In the late '70s he was approached by Dunghutti Elders to establish and run Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service in Kempsey NSW. He has since built Durri into one of the largest Aboriginal Medical Services in Australia, and has established himself as a leader in Aboriginal development.

Steve served as Chairperson of the Many Rivers ATSIC Regional Council for 3 years from 2002 to 2005. In this role he facilitated the development of a Regional Strategic Plan guiding the social and economic development of communities and organisations throughout the region. This plan continues to guide the work of the Indigenous Coodination Centre, and government departments in their work with Indigenous communities and organisations.
